While Florida is primarily known for its flat terrain and beaches, it does offer a unique natural whitewater experience at Big Shoals State Park near White Springs. Here, when the Suwannee River's water level is between 59 and 61 feet above mean sea level, the Big Shoals rapids reach a Class III whitewater classification, making it the largest and only significant whitewater in Florida.
